Here are some of the really cool (IMO) specialty desserts I've done lately

Buche du Noel for a Christmas party
Meringue mushrooms!!!

Gateau du St. Honore'   (my new FAVORITE)

Bridal Shower cake for my niece (the flip-flops are cake, covered with fondant and all of the seashells are hand-made from candy melts)

My mom's latest birthday was all done in rainbows - including the 2 layered, multi tiered cake.

Haven't posted in forever, but I've been super busy.

Here are some of my favorites of late:

A birthday cake for my mom (first attempt at multiple shaped layers; not quite a tiered cake, but it turned out well - and man, was it good!)

A dobosh torte for my birthday.  The top layer is carmeled and supported by hazelnuts

Another cake for my mom.  We took a decorating class in 1995 and just LOVED the clowns.  So I made another one for her last year.

Strawberry Trifle (just to prove that I don't ONLY do cakes) ;)

Can't remember who got these.  Sometimes I make cakes just for fun.  ;)

Took another decorating class this year.  Had to practice my roses and rose buds. (the stems need a lot of work)

This is the 'Final' cake for the class.  Turned out very well (pretty sure I passed)  ;o)

And then there is the wedding cake my Mom and I did for my brother's wedding.

Note to self - NEVER bake a layer cake using 6 batches of cake mixes with 8 batches of frosting in a trailer in the deep South with the heat index around 80.   We had to put the whole thing in the deep freeze on the porch, overnight and pray it defrosted in time.
My Grandmother's favorite cake is Angel food, which presents quite a challenge to decorate.  I've tried a few things over the years and I think this simple design works

Welcome

Here is my first 'official' Blog.

I won't post too terribly often - I really don't have that much to say that you will want to hear. But if I do run across something of interest,  well . . . it will be here.

Thanks for your time and have a great day!
